Flat Iron Curls Using the GHD Platinum +
Not gonna lie, it took me a minute to get the hang of doing curls with a flat iron on myself. Lol.
Here are my tips: I used my GHD platinum + 1” flat iron to create these J-Lo inspired fluffy curls. Love this iron because the beveled edge allows you to create beautiful curls or waves so easily as well as straightening the hair and it always maintains a steady temperature of 365 F. Which is the optimal temp for curling minus damage. Prepped the hair all over with Formula 18 Thermal Mist for hold and thermal protection. (Brush through) Split the hair into 2 sections (top +bottom). Use the opposite hand of the side you’re curling to hold the iron. When working on your left side, hold the iron in your right hand. When working on your right side, hold the iron in your left hand. Begin by taking about a 1.” wide sections and insert the iron with the tip down, and the handle facing up. Insert the iron, close and wrap the ends around the iron as you pull forward towards your face and guide the hair through the iron. Never let go of the ends, or else I find the section just drops out without getting curled. Give each section enough time to be sealed. In real time, it took me about 8 seconds to pass the iron completely through each section from top to bottom. Work your way towards the back of your head pulling each subsequent section forward and curling away from the face. The curls will be starting lower and lower the farther back you get. Let curls cool completely. Brush out with a round brush for this fluffy, soft, voluminous texture. Spray with texture spray. This is such a fun, look, and the curls lasted even longer than with my usual curling iron. I hope these tips are helpful and inspire you to try this style or just switch up your curl routine a bit.
