Your Best Hair: Summer Edition

Chlorine, salt, sun, sunscreen and heat can all contribute to dry, frizzy, dull or limp hair.

My best tips to keep your hair healthy and shiny throughout the summer are:

– Heatless hair day- to give strands a break.  Get into it.  Try overnight “bathrobe tie” curls or braid your hair when damp and let air dry for more mermaid waves.  Anything goes but texture is in and you might as well use the humidity to help your hair texture instead of fight it.

– If your hair gets dry, brittle, and washed-out looking in the summer, consider switching to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for the season, and add either a leave-in conditioner or serum to your routine.

– If your hair usually just falls limp or gets oily quickly in the humidity but can still get a little thirsty try switching out your traditional rinse-out style conditioner for a few mists of a leave-in conditioner on the ends after you shampoo instead.

– Mask (once a week especially if you have colored hair).  I’m in love with Formula 18 Mask!
