HOW TO: Control Cowlicks
The hairline is the most important part of the blow dry. It’s so important to spend 2 minutes on the hairline first, before continuing on with the rest of your blowout.
To control any breakage, baby hairs, bangs or cowlicks and get them to lay flat, I recommend starting the blow dry in the front. Section the first 2 inches of hair around your forehead from ear to ear. Clip the back away so you can focus on the hairline.
Make sure the hair is completely saturated with water. Put your product in. In my video I used the Oribe Run-through detangling primer spray. It’s a great all in one, detangling + thermal protection. Comb the hairline in towards the face super flat with a hard rubber comb.
Begin with the blow dryer on high heat but low air flow. Using the wide side of the comb first, blow dry the hair opposite the way you wear it. Blow the hair in towards the face, stretching out the roots across your forehead. Go over the hair until the roots are 50% dry. Switch to the fine side of the comb and repeat. The roots should be almost dry. Go over the sections one more time with a brush and pass through the ends to polish. The front hairline should be easy to part where you want, and there should be no strong cowlicks. Continue on with the rest of your blow dry as normal.
The hairline is always tricky, but if you control it before it gets the chance to dry on its own, you will like the outcome better!
